Reaching Out, Reaching Up with Casa Q
Casa Q is uniquely positioned as the only shelter in New Mexico that provides services for LGBTQ youth. The young individuals that come through our doors often have a history of trauma and a lack of supports, Casa Q works with community partners to establish and build those supports so that our youth can thrive and create their individual paths without the barrier of a looming discharge date. Casa Q is committed to working with our youth for as long as the individual needs our supports, this often includes aftercare for those who have aged out of our program. As a member of the Casa Q community, you know and understand that it is a long journey for many of our residents. This End of Year Campaign, we want to shine a light on the growth, resilience, and determination of those young people.
Reflecting on this past year, we are taken with how our community has come together to show their support to Casa Q and the youth we serve. For many of our young residents, coming to Casa Q will be the first time they have been told their voice matters, their identity matters, and they have a safe base from which they can reach up, creating a life and identity on their own terms. It is because of you, our community, that these young people can have this chance to grow and blossom.
Throughout this campaign we will be highlighting not just the work we do at Casa Q, the growth and joy of our youth, but the community members who make this work possible. We hope that this campaign will offer you get a better understanding of the importance of the work that we do and why your support matters so much.
